刘锦茂(K. M. Liew),欧洲科学院院士(Academia Europaea),香港工程科学院院士(Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences),现任香港城市大学杨建文讲座教授 (可持续工程)、仿生工程中心主任。刘教授曾任香港城市大学研究生院院长、建筑学及土木工程学系主任、新加坡南洋理工大学终身教授、南洋理工大学超级计算与可视化中心的创始主任。凭借在学术领域的卓越贡献,刘教授连续数年被科睿唯安(Clarivate Analytics)评选为全球高被引科学家。2001年至今,刘教授被Institute for Scientific Information (ISI)评选为全球工程领域高被引学者。截至目前,刘教授的学术论文引用超过50,000次,H-index为112。

报告摘要

The talk will focus on the development of eco-friendly and durable fiber-reinforced alkali-activated cement composite (FRAC). With the adding of glass and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) waste from end-of-life solar panels and wind turbine blades, FRAC exhibits good engineering properties. Our presentation will focus on: (1) To devise a process control strategy to recycle glass particles and carbon fibers from end-of-life solar panels and wind turbines; (2) To develop a body of knowledge on the design, mechanisms, and characterization of waste derived FRAC geopolymerization products; (3) To evaluate and optimize FRAC strength and mechanical performance; (4) To examine the long-term durability and leachability of FRAC; and (5) To assess the environmental and economic impacts of the proposed upcycling strategy. This research advances the scientific frontiers of waste upcycling by developing an innovative method for transforming waste streams from the renewable energy sector into FRAC, an eco-friendly construction material. We will present how this eco-friendly material to be used in civil engineering construction.
